Fildena 25mg contains the active ingredient sildenafil citrate, which is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Like all medications, Fildena 25mg has the potential to interact with other medications, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and supplements. Here are some interactions to be aware of:

Nitrates: Fildena 25mg should not be taken concomitantly with nitrates or nitric oxide donors (such as amyl nitrite or nitroglycerin) used to treat chest pain (angina) or heart conditions. The combination can lead to a sudden and significant drop in blood pressure, which can be dangerous or life-threatening.

Alpha-Blockers: Combining Fildena 25mg with alpha-blockers used to treat high blood pressure or prostate conditions can also cause a significant drop in blood pressure. Examples of alpha-blockers include doxazosin, tamsulosin, and terazosin. It's important to discuss with a healthcare provider before combining these medications.

Other Blood Pressure Medications: Certain medications used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) may interact with Fildena 25mg and potentiate its hypotensive effects. Examples include calcium channel blockers and antihypertensive drugs. A healthcare provider can assess the potential for interactions and adjust medication regimens as needed.

CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Fildena 25mg is metabolized in the liver by the enzyme CYP3A4. Medications that inhibit this enzyme, such as certain antibiotics, antifungals, and HIV protease inhibitors, can increase sildenafil levels in the blood, potentially leading to an increased risk of side effects.

CYP3A4 Inducers: Conversely, medications that induce the activity of CYP3A4 may decrease sildenafil levels in the blood, reducing its effectiveness. Examples of CYP3A4 inducers include rifampin, carbamazepine, and phenytoin.

Grapefruit Juice: Grapefruit juice can inhibit the activity of the enzyme CYP3A4, leading to increased sildenafil levels in the blood. It's best to avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Fildena 25mg.

Other PDE5 Inhibitors: Concurrent use of multiple PDE5 inhibitors, such as sildenafil (Fildena), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra), is generally not recommended due to the increased risk of side effects and interactions.

It's essential to inform your healthcare provider about all medications, supplements, and herbal products you are taking before starting Fildena 25mg or any other medication. They can assess the potential for interactions and provide guidance on safe and appropriate use. If you have questions or concerns about potential interactions with Fildena 25mg, consult with your healthcare provider or pharmacist for personalized advice.
