IYKYK is, as a rule, a harmless slang, yet parents should be careful. The term is not dangerous, but its use might even be an indication of dirty jokes or adult content which is not kid friendly. The fact that the meaning is not visible to outsiders may make it more difficult to monitor by parents. The best thing to do is to promote openness of communication to ensure children know when it is okay to use IYKYK and when it could conceal or encourage dangerous conversations.
